One of the most popular German spiritual preachers and writers in the first half of the eighteenth century was Gerhard Tersteegen (1697-1769). His writings were well-known even among the German settlers in colonial Pennsylvania. This illustrated lecture will highlight his spiritual writings in general and focus specifically on his influence on the American Schwenkfelder community, including his correspondence with Abraham Wagner.
