Living History: Reclaiming female voices from the threat of historical silence, a reading featuring Geraldine Books, Julie Otsuka, and Dolen Perkins-Valdez.

As part of the 2012-2013 PEN/Faulkner Reading Series, authors Geraldine Books, Julie Otsuka, and Dolen Perkins-Valdez will read at the Folger Elizabethan Theatre on March 28th, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available through the Folger box office, and student, senior, and military discounts apply. Following the reading, a book signing and reception will take place in the Great Hall of the Folger. Books will be available from our partners at Politics & Prose.

The Authors:

Geraldine Brooks was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2006 for her novel “March.” Her most recent novel “Caleb’s Crossing” is a New York Times bestseller.

Julie Otsuka is the author of two novels and a recipient of the a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her most recent novel, “The Buddha in the Attic,” is the winner of the 2012 PEN/ Faulkner Award for Fiction.

Dolen Perkins-Valdez’s writings have appeared or will appear in The Kenyon Review, Robert Olen Butler Prize Stories 2009, and North Carolina Literary Review. “Wench” is her first novel.
