Geoff Dyer: Working the Room at the LRB Bookshop November 16, 2010

Geoff Dyer’s insight, originality and irreverence have won him praise from all quarters, and led Zadie Smith to call him a ‘national treasure’. He’ll be at the bookshop to read from and talk about Working the Room, the new collection of his essays and journalism, many of which are now published in the UK for the first time. It ranges over such topics as the photography of Martin Parr and the paintings of Turner, the writing of Scott Fitzgerald and the criticism of Susan Sontag. Also included are several personal pieces – ‘On Being an Only Child’, ‘Sacked’ and ‘Reader’s Block’, among others.
