This year in the month of October, Aakriti is celebrating its fourth anniversary as GenNext IV enlightening the entire discourse once again in a novel dimension. GenNext was conceived with the exclusive idea of promoting contemporary artists below forty years of age with a modernization in the concept of curatorial venture that also formulated a big change in the approach to the way of looking at art. The emergence of this trend of articulating works of young generation artists also changed the focus of all those dealing with art from signature painters to a fresh discourse. The first GenNext that was initiated in 2006 as the first anniversary celebration of the Aakriti Art Gallery, the foundation was led by the commitment to promote young talent and project their works. It has been the basic dictum of this gallery since inception to search for novel possibilities and unique ideas, thus to conceptualize a different language in showcasing and endorsing artworks. GenNext has evolved as the metonymy of new generation art in the post-modern era with versatility in approach and practice. The show plays the key role to enunciate a discursive platform in integrating the dynamism of creative minds beyond borders. Though the first year of Gen Next remained within the realm of a regional show, the Gen Next II expanded to the national level and the third show led the city as the most happening spot of promoting art; thus evolving a new wave in the art world. In 2008, the third Gen Next was an elaborative effort to profoundly bring in the contemporary artists from different corners of the world to react on a single platform. It exploded in the form of a collective creative energy where forty young minds of the present generation from India, USA, Canada, Brazil, Jamaica, France, Austria, Poland, Italy, Bangladesh and Pakistan expressed their artistic ventures at a single go. Gen Next III reached out to the art lovers as the most effervescent experience in the medley of expressions with innovation, experimentation and freshness. GenNext IV is going to be far more vibrant with pulsating spirit to enrich the art world. Gen Next IV is shaped in the form of a panoramic event with exhibition, open interactive sessions, symposiums of international stature. Around six hundred entries from artists across the globe had been received from all over the globe where artists below forty years of age had sent their profile and current works to get entry in the selection process. A panel of experts went for a rigorous grueling of their creative effort and finally thirty two out of them have been selected to participate in this enthralling platform.
