From January 3 to February 14, 2012, Manhattan New Music Project and the Austrian Cultural Forum New York will present a series of five concerts titled "The Emancipation of Re:Sonance - Five Austrian Masters Revisited". The series will focus on five of Austria’s most famous composers - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gustav Mahler, Arnold Schönberg, Joe Zawinul, and Peter Ablinger - and the re-interpretation, re-imagination, and re-arrangement of some of their greatest works by ensembles from Austria and the United States.

Kicking off this concert series on Tuesday night, January 3, 2012, the International Street Cannibals will perform arrangements and reconstructions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s compositions by Gene Pritsker, Dan Barrett, Dan Cooper, Patrick Grant, John Clark and Milica Paranosic, as well as pieces by composers of various periods who were directly influenced by Mozart.

The concert will also feature performances of several newly commissioned pieces directly inspired by Mozart's work. The evening will be further enlivened and informed by readings of Mozart's letters and impressions by his contemporaries, as well as by videos and pre-recorded sounds.
