Gee's Bend Quilts and the Art of Thornton Dial July 15, 2012

This exhibition juxtaposes the world-famous quilts from the women at Gee's Bend with Thornton Dial's metaphoric assemblages. Both the quilters and Thornton Dial found inspiration in African American asthetic traditions, including cemetary construction and yard art in the rural South.
