proud to present THE GBOB CHALLENGE: ALASKA in
conjunction with Chilkoot Charlies giving Alaskan musicians
their chance at the $100,000 grand prize and worldwide
promotion!
GBOB Challenge or The Global Battle of the Bands
(GBOB) is the worlds biggest live music competition for
bands of all genres, professional or amateur, signed or
unsigned by a recording label. The World Finals will be held
in London in December 2008, where our Malaysian entrant
will be pitted against over 30 bands from 30 plus other
countries. The World Champion goes home with
US$100,000, worldwide promotions and recognition as the
Best New Band in the World. Since its launch in 2004,
bands that have won in the past have already been signed
publishing deals and major recording contracts.
GBOB will make its Alaskan debut on Thursday September
11th, 2008 at The World Famous Chilkoot Charlies located at 2435 Spenard Road in Anchorage. The
battle will be held on the South Stage of Chilkoot Charlies. GBOB is for local bands (and fans) 21
years of age only. Local musicians will need to register online at www.gbob.com and prepare to
battle on Thursday September 11th, 2008 for their chance at advancing in the GBOB GLOBAL
CHALLENGE and their chance to win $100,000 and worldwide promotion! GBOB Challenge: Alaska
will be held on the south stage of Koots from 8pm to 12am; there will not be an additional cover
charge to attend. More details and sponsors to be announced!
We are ecstatic to be a part of the GBOB debut in Alaska! We work hard to support the seemingly
endless local music talent in Alaska and cant wait to see the level of dedication and passion for local
music at the challenge presented proudly in part by Alcatraz Records. Local bands needs to register
