GAY MEN'S CHORUS OF LOS ANGELES REFLECTS UPON MUSIC AND MOOD OF THE 1980s WITH
"TOTALLY! OUR ’80's SHOW,"
FEATURING GUEST CONDUCTOR ANDRES CLADERA

Saturday July 9, 2011, 5 pm and 8 pm,
and Sunday, July 10, 2011, 3 pm and 7 pm,
at The Avalon Hollywood

The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles closes its 2010-11 Season with “Totally! Our '80's Show,” featuring Guest Conductor Andres Cladera, Saturday July 9, 2011, 5 pm and 8 pm, and Sunday, July 10, 2011, 3 pm and 7 pm, at the Avalon Hollywood. The all-1980’s pop music program, punctuated by compelling video clips and show-stopping choreography by Ray Leeper, reflects upon this transformational and complex decade of fun and tragedy, delight and devastation.

The 1980s was a time of big hair, big shoulder pads and Golden Girls. Greed was king and MTV changed the way we experience music. It was also an era that ushered in AIDs, prompting a fight for life that continues today. GMCLA adds its unique perspective on the era with such period hits as Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and The Weather Girls' "It's Raining Men,” and finds deeper meaning in Michael Jackson's "Thriller," Depeche Mode's "People Are People" and Pat Benatar’s “We Belong.”

Tickets are $15 - $55. The Avalon Hollywood is located at 1735 Vine Street, Los Angeles, CA 90028. For tickets and information, please call (800) MEN-SING (800-636-7464), or visit www.gmcla.org.
