Starr's musical story starts back in Memphis in the mid 1990s. She did a couple of self-financed recordings and worked to establish herself on the lively and important Memphis music scene, but Los Angeles was calling. In her early 20s, she was signed to Geffen, which released 1997's Eighteen Over Me which included the radio-friendly hit "Superhero," a song that her fans still want to hear today. In 2003, she re-emerged with a new CD, Songs From Take-off to Landing, and reached deeper with her 2004 Vanguard debut, Airstreams and Satellites. Her latest release is The Sound of You & Me, which details her romantic relationships and attempts at keeping love alive, even when the coals are flickering out.

Amy Correia believes in ghosts. That's not what accounts for the otherworldly quality of her remarkable voice, but it may have something to do with the timeless-sounding ambience of her exquisite new album Lakeville. The singer/songwriter's sophomore effort comes four years after her critically acclaimed debut, Carnival Love. A lot went down for Amy during that time: She left her label, moved back to NYC and had a run-in with a poltergeist at a friend's apartment, resulting in Lakeville's eerie blues track, "Devil & I." Her journey took her from New York to the gorgeous old Los Angeles estate called the Paramour, where she recorded with producer/engineer Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson). The next thing Amy knew, she and Mark were recording what would become Lakeville in the Paramour's stately ballroom, surrounded by musician pals, and well, ghosts.
