“GARDEN GIFTS” is the title of The Mariana-Art Gallery Summer Exhibition which runs in St. Briavels, from Saturday 25th June to Sunday 10th July. At this year’s event, guest artist, Gillian Horsfield will be exhibiting her botanical watercolours, including her prize winning entry at the Monmouthshire Show 2010. Gillian leads a double life – working globally for a top pharmaceutical company and still finding time at the weekends to paint her precision watercolours of flowers and vegetables. Gillian’s travels around the world have given her an opportunity to work and live amongst all manner of communities, from the very rich to the extremely poor. One of her favoured charities is Allambie which supports orphaned children in Vietnam. All profits from the sale of her paintings and prints at this exhibition will be donated to this worthy charity.

In addition gallery owner/artist, Mariana Robinson will be displaying new work – on the subject of gardens – which includes both watercolours and Atelier Interactive Acrylic pieces. Both artists will have some short run artists’ prints available as well as framed original paintings.

Mariana has spent weeks tending the gallery garden which is currently in full bloom. In amongst the flowers there are garden sculptures by Sarah D’Arcy and there’s always a supply of gifts, ceramics by Tanya Aplin, silver jewellery, wooden clocks and greetings cards available at the gallery.

Both artists have been selected to demonstrate and exhibit their work at the Orchid Festival at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, in September this year. Do pay a visit during the exhibition and help support Allambie Orphanage (Reg. Charity 1137521).
