Gallery Dv8 Alter Ego Art Show May 10, 2008

The theme for this year’s annual group art show is Alter Ego. Artists have been urged to create something inspired by their other self, dedicate something to their second personality, or simply rid themselves of that evil twin. With over 25 artists in participation so far, surprises are expected to ensue. The show will also feature a musical soundspace created live by JANO (THING) SELECTOR (ORGAN). There will be beer too.

Gallery Dv8 is an occasional, weekend, guerrilla gallery, showcasing raw innovative artists whose works often don't get recognized by traditional galleries. For the past three years, Dv8 has had multi artist shows in the fall for East Austin Studio Tour, and themed shows in the spring with over twenty artists participating for each event, and brilliant DJs setting the tone. The previous themes have been politics and intersexuality.

Wade Beesley, Gallery Dv8 curator, owned and operated Mojo's Daily Grind, where he showcased progressive, cutting edge artists for a decade. Having sold Mojo's and bought property on the east side, he occasionally turns his back yard into a weekend guerrilla gallery.
