Two of Scotland's leading theatre companies combine creative forces to bring you the English premiere of a brand-new black comedy

English Premiere

Welcome to Futurology: A Global Revue. Check your name at the door, collect your delegate pack and take your seat. The future is about to begin!

Two of Scotland's leading theatre companies - Suspect Culture (The Escapologist, 8000m) and National Theatre of Scotland (Black Watch, Realism) combine creative forces to bring you the English premiere of a brand-new black comedy that asks the million-dollar question: is everything going to be alright?

The facts: the oil is running out. The climate is changing. China is on the rise. But what can we do? How should we react? At last, the powers that be have called a global conference. International delegates, economists, politicians, protestors and mystics are gathered as weighty decisions hang in the balance.

Caught between the big guns and the sharpshooters is Patrice, delegate of the tiny Sandwich Islands. Her home is sinking as are her hopes for the future. Follow Patrice, as she struggles to negotiate high politics, conference sex and name badge etiquette before - eventually - learning how to play the game.

In a darkly comic cabaret of song, dance, ventriloquism and Suspect Culture's trademark theatre style, Futurology asks the big questions.

'Bold, original, confident...Futurolgy is a present-day delight' The Guardian ****

'...no serious fan of 21st-century theatre should miss it' The Scotsman ****

'...a magnificent comic microcosm of how we live now' The Herald
