Alfred and Ada Pope furnished Hill-Stead primarily with Chippendale-style, Federal-style and Empire pieces. The refinement and elegance of Hill-Stead's furnishings dramatically depart from the ornate Victorian and heavy Arts and Crafts aesthetic of the Popes' original Cleveland, Ohio, residence.
