A weekend of events in Barrow in Furness, to highlight and celebrate the town’s contribution towards the armed service through the efforts of our citizens serving within the armed services, volunteering with the Territorial Army and within the MOD and construction of Ships, Submarines and Armaments for HM Armed Forces. The diversity of the programme will include: Open weekend at BAE Systems Submarine Solutions Shipyard featuring visiting HMS vessels Exeter, Walney and the tall ship, Kaskelot and Falklands veteran submarine Onyx (now decommissioned), supported by a fun fair and associated attractions. The event will build up to a drumhead ceremony where veterans will be commemorated for their contributions to the services.
