FUNNY BUSINESS THE MUSICAL
a musical comedy about office drama
Book by Rachel Brittain and Dan Falk
Music and Lyrics by Daniel Abrahamson

FUNNY BUSINESS THE MUSICAL will be heating up the water coolers at the Diesel Playhouse from August 17, 2007 October 7, 2007. Currently the home of the smash hit Evil Dead: The Musical, FUNNY BUSINESS THE MUSICAL joins the Diesel Playhouse line-up on the cabaret stage after being an audience favourite and critics choice of the 2007 Toronto Fringe Festival!
Combining the hit modern concepts of office comedy with a pop musical theatre style, this hilarious, multimedia musical romp is all about getting to yes!

When low morale threatens their branch, five office workers must mount a team building talent show. Romance blossoms, betrayal burns, and hilarity ensues as they try to keep the show together without tearing each other apart. Get into the team-building spirit with such songs as, High Speed LAN, Bottom Line and the show-stopping group number that has the audience screaming, You Cant Fire Me, I Quit!

Before premiering at the Robert Gill Theatre as part of the 2007 Toronto Fringe Festival, FUNNY BUSINESS THE MUSICAL underwent a unique development process that made sure the audience and subject matter were always at its heart. Office employees of several of Canadas largest corporations were interviewed, invited to presentations, and attended focus groups which helped the original pop/rock musical become one of the more popular shows at the Fringe.

With sold-out shows, FUNNY BUSINESS - THE MUSICAL received rave reviews from both critics and audiences. The Toronto Star gave it 3.5 stars (out of four) calling it, fast, funny, a guaranteed good time!, NOW Magazine said, NNNNN! brilliant musical comedy! and Eye Weekly praised it with, Four Stars!... a stellar cast of characters nail the clever songs, spot-on intern jokes, and each other. Funny business, indeed.

FUNNY BUSINESS THE MUSICAL was awarded NOW Magazines Critics Pick, as well NOWs 2007 Outstanding Production and 2007 Outstanding Ensemble, the Toronto Fringe Festivals Patrons Pick and was one of seven shows included in the Diesel Playhouse Best of Fringe series.

The all-Toronto cast and creative team has direction and choreography by Marc Richard, musical direction and arrangements by Konrad Pluta, lighting design by Sandra Marcroft, set and costume design by Dennis Horn, and is starring J. Sean Elliott, Alison Woolridge, Chris Trussell, Trevor Campbell and Lana Carillo.

FUNNY BUSINESS THE MUSICAL is produced by Good Company Entertainment Ltd, a new theatre company dedicated to bringing quality commercial theatre to Toronto.
