DETAILS: A half keg of Yuengling beer has been donated, and I need YOUR HELP drinking it! LOL. Join me at Imagebox this Friday night to help local Pittsburgh artist, David Flynn, who has been through some rough times. He's been in the hospital since early April 2009, and almost died due to multiple infections! But, he has turned the corner, and is doing much, much better. He is breathing on his own for the first time since last April, but still can't eat or drink anything. Hopefully, that will come in time.

David is a local artist, who paints very dramatic and colorful abstracts in acrylic. You can check out his art on his blog at: http://artbydafs.blogspot.com/. And you can see photos from his show at Packrats in 2007 here: http://www.deenasportfolio.com/davidflynn.html.

Dave has had many shows around Pittsburgh over the past few years, and 4 of his paintings hang in my house. Dave's paintings will be on display and on sale during the fundraiser. There will also be one-of-a-kind, original hand painted t-shirts, made by Dave before he got sick. And we will have a 50-50 raffle. The suggested donation is $5.00, but of course if you are feeling more generous, ALL donations will be greatly appreciated.

David is very fortunate that all of his medical bills are covered, but he has lost 3 months of wages, and will not be able to return to work for many more months. I'm hoping we can help Dave pay some household bills, and still have enough left over to replace his stolen computer with a used laptop. Since Dave is an artist, he uses his computer to book shows and to email samples of his art to gallery owners. He also created a digital slide show of his hundreds of paintings, and would display it during his shows for a cool multimedia effect. None of those things are possible without a computer!

BTW...if a half keg of Yuengling beer isn't enough incentive, perhaps I can entice you with a list of SOME of the baked goods I plan on making: banana chocolate chip bread, lemon squares, brownies, and assorted cookies. I will be also be making hummus and a whole grain veggie pasta salad, and bringing whole wheat pita bread. (Ya gotta have something to DIP into the hummus! LOL.) And there will be fresh fruit and veggies, as well.

Let's come together and help my dear friend Dave to get back on his feet. I look forward to seeing you there.
