What do 160 women, 320 quad-skates, 120 pairs of fishnet stockings and 10 hearty vendettas have in common?

Find out on October 24, 2009 as the Ventura County Derby Darlins host nine west coast roller derby teams at the Ventura County Fairgrounds for the third annual Battle for the Coast 2009 single elimination flat track roller derby tournament.

Tournament Details
An all-day massacre, this event will feature ten competitive teams spanning the coast from Olympia, Washington, to Orange County, California. Tournament play will consist of three rounds of single-elimination competition including 20-minute preliminary and semifinal bouts and a final 60-minute battle to determine the winner of the tournament. The first set of skates will stomp concrete at 9:00am, and bodies will fall regularly in bouts on the hour until the final, winner-takes-all head-to-head at 7:00pm.

Other Activities
To curb their pre-semifinal nerves, fans are invited to browse the 70+ vendors in the vendor village, grab a brew outside at the frosty beer kiosk, bounce their future-derby rollers in the outdoor "bounce-house" or slap a knee rink-side to live music from Santa Barbara's own rockabilly-meets-psychobilly band, Big Jugs. Between bouts and in the vendor village, community entertainers will take the rink to present a Ventura County variety show of dancing, acoustic music and other talents that really think outside the box. (Curious...?)
