AT HOME AND ABROAD

WHAT: Front & Center with John Callaway, Chicago’s only monthly public affairs program on military affairs, looks at the U.S Army Corps of Engineers.

WHO: Veteran broadcast journalist John Callaway interviews Lt. Gen. Robert Van Antwerp, U.S. Army Chief of Engineers.

WHY: Their missions range from the deserts of Iraq to the wetlands of the United States, involving construction support in war zones and protection for our water supply at home. Who are the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers? Where do they fit into our strategy overseas, and how are they responding to domestic issues like the recent hurricanes and floods?

WHERE: Pritzker Military Library, 610 N. Fairbanks Court, Chicago.

WHEN: The presentation and live webcast will begin on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 6:00 p.m.

The Pritzker Military Library is a non-partisan, non-profit research institution with a collection of books, films, posters, and other material on the role of the Citizen Soldier in American history. Admission is free and open to the public, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and also for scheduled evening events.

Since opening in October 2003, the Pritzker Military Library has produced over 200 programs including events with award-winning authors, interviews with Medal of Honor recipients, and panel discussions on military issues hosted by broadcast veteran John Callaway. All programs are presented free of charge in front of a live audience, webcast live on the Internet, and recorded for later broadcast on WYCC-TV/Channel 20.
