Bay Area Now 6 Conversations
Feb 19-Jun 11
FREE
BAN6, the sixth edition of YBCA’s signature triennial celebration of local artists, kicks off with a series of thought-provoking conversations on the rich culture of the Bay Area and its impact on six key areas of innovation: Food, Futurism, Community Activism, Radical Identities, Environmentalism, and Technology. These free, public conversations will feature local luminaries from each field and dialogue with the multi-disciplinary artists selected for the BAN6 showcase. July 9 through September 25, BAN6 will present the diverse set of performances, films and visual art exhibitions produced by the local artists who have participated in the BAN6 conversations.

From Produce to Production: New Traditions in Bay Area Food Culture
Sat, Feb 19, 1-4pm
The first BAN6 conversation will feature local food luminaries Bryant Terry, Novella Carpenter and Leif Hedendal, who will shed light on the Bay Area’s distinctive culinary culture in an engaging roundtable discussion with local guest artists. Kenneth Foster, YBCA’s executive director, will moderate. The event will explore new practices that are changing the way we grow, prepare and shop for food, as well as how culinary traditions are intersecting with health, the environment, community outreach and even politics.
