This one-day course targets telecommunication managers with a baseline understanding of networking technologies and their convergence to TCP/IP by providing some important understanding and skills that will have an instant impact on their day-to-day planning and decision-making processes. Managers will be less dependent on others, enhance their ability to understand what they are being advised, and will be able to ask appropriate questions related to the technologies such as VoIP, Video over IP, IP Routing, IP-based services, MPLS, VPN, Security and many other facets of the new evolution in Internet-based services.

The ubiquitous presence of personal computers and personal communications devices, and the convergence of voice, video and other communication-based applications requiring internetworking services is being ushered into our lives at an increasingly rapid rate, thanks in large part to the Internet Protocol (IP) and the TCP/IP protocol stack.

Bandwidth consumption continues to rise due to these technologies, yet telephone companies are faced with the ever present requirement to lower their cost-per-bit performance in order to support IP-based applications and services. Further, telephone companies are being required to reconstitute their service offerings in order to meet the customer demands related to this evolution of telecommunication. Managers must make instantaneous and high-impact decisions about devices and technology in this fast-paced and ever-emerging set of technologies.
