In celebration of Dawn Farm’s 40th Anniversary the community is invited to join us for a fun and informative evening that will include a reception with food, beverages and the opportunity to socialize with Dawn Farm staff, alumni, families, clients and supporters; and a free CE presentation on “From Fear to Faith.”

Dawn Farm was founded in 1973 by two men with little more than a vision, using the principals of Alcoholics Anonymous, some ideas borrowed from a residential program in Quebec, and a rented farm house in Ypsilanti. Despite a non-profit climate that is forcing other programs to close, Dawn Farm has continued to address the essential needs of the community with creative, community-based solutions. From the modest farm house in 1973, to the continuum of programs that Dawn Farm operates today- the only detox facility in the region, one of the last long-term residential programs in the county, outpatient services, a transitional housing program, and several outreach and educational programs, Dawn Farm continues to be a place of help and hope for hundreds of addicts every day. Dawn Farm’s success has been made possible by staying true to our core values and with the unwaveringly generous support provided by the community around us. This evening is an opportunity to say thank you to those who have supported us throughout the years and share with you what we’ve learned along the way.

“From Fear to Faith” will be presented by James Balmer, Dawn Farm President; and Jason Schwartz, LMSW, CAADC, Dawn Farm Clinical Director. This program will describe the evolution of the treatment field over the past forty years, discuss what can be learned from Dawn Farm's successes and failures, illustrate how mission-driven choices have allowed Dawn Farm to survive and thrive, and explain the power of rejecting fear-based program management. The program provides 1.5 free CE hours approved by the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP.)

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013; at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Education Center auditorium, 5305 Elliott Drive, Ypsilanti Michigan. There will be a reception from 6:30 to 7:30 pm followed by the CE program from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
