2010 Season Finale - Indyklez When a five-year-old Russian boy named Israel Baline landed at Ellis Island in 1893, he brought with him the melodies of the small villages of his homeland. The cacophony of the many ethnic sounds that filled the halls of the lower east side tenement that his family called home surely influenced the Broadway composer that little Izzy was soon to become - Irving Berlin.INDYKLEZ, Central Indianas premiere Klezmer band, weaves those same Russian melodies with the music of American Jewish composers whose families may also have started out their lives in America at Ellis Island. The musical memories that filled the homes of these families are what make the wealth of music they produced so rich and valuable.The program will be very entertaining and fun for all. INDYKLZ which includes ASOs very own Becky Chappell will perform several selection by themselves and with the orchestra.
