Celebrate global awareness this Friday night at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park with a program co-presented by Common Ground magazine.  The West African Highlife Band, an authentic all-star group of West African music veterans, will perform dance classics and a unique fusion of African and world music in Wilsey Court from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The Craft Gym, an organization that promotes creative workouts, will present arts and crafts projects.  The Acro Yogis will demonstrate body movement techniques through their acrobatic contortions and serene stretches.  The closing reception for August Artist-in-Residence Joe Mangrum is also this Friday night from 6:00 until 8:30 pm in the Kimball Education Gallery. Come see the end result of Mangrum’s month-long transformation of the gallery into an alchemist’s laboratory through his exhibition entitled, Experiencing Ephemeral Art. The entire museum and store stay open until 8:45 pm, and the café closes at 8 pm.
