"WORTH THE DRIVE: If you missed the notice, the Mansion at Strathmore throws the best reason to trek out of the district with its Friday Night Eclectic showcase..." ~ The Washington Post Express

The Mansion at Strathmore is your new first stop of the weekend with the all-new Friday Night Eclectic series. Kick off your weekend with the best local live music the metro area has to offer. Indie rock, hip-hip, electronica, salsa, go-go, and funk blast through conventional ideas of art, lounge and life outside the beltway.

Cravin' Dogs began as a "gonzo-folk" trio in 1986. Founding members Caldwell Gray (guitar/vocals), Lisa Venable Gray (vocals) and Tom Helf (drums) crafted a sparse brand of rock and roll that used acoustic guitar, drums and harmony-driven vocals to create a unique blend of folk, rock, '80s new wave and bluegrass. Since then Cravin' Dogs has evolved into an all-original, eclectic, rootsy, rock/pop-outfit that has played over 1000 shows and released eight full-length albums, one EP and two compilation retrospectives.

Internationally-known mixed media and collage artist Rod Glover incorporates crisply rendered geometric shapes in balanced and abstract compositions. Sam Kittner's panoramic photography capture pivotal moments in recent Washington, D.C. history--from Obama's inauguration day to the opening of Nationals Stadium, while Bobbi Kittner plays with blocks (literally!) and other found objects to create sculptures and mixed media pieces that speak to her as a woman, and more importantly, as a mother.
