Fresh Meat in the Gallery, the acclaimed annual transgender visual art exhibition, celebrates its fifth Anniversary this June! Presented by Fresh Meat Productions, Fresh Meat in the Gallery is an annual exhibition of visual art by transgender and gender variant artists. Join us for an opening night reception on June 7 at the SF LGBT Community Center – meet the artists and enjoy this extraordinary anniversary exhibition!

This year’s exhibition Riots and Revelations presents new work that asks powerful questions pertinent to our times. How do we find peace in a time of war on our bodies and communities? How do we create powerful, exciting, and energizing riots? Are revelations quiet and introspective or publicly celebrated moments, movements and histories? How are communities around the world rising up? What new ways of living are being revealed for the future?

Fresh Meat in the Gallery V features new work by 21 local and international transgender and gender variant visual artists, including Jillian Soto, Danyol, Eric Allen Carter, Maya Christina Gonzalez, Miss Day, Noelle Walker, Alex Smith, Aryn Zev, Gariel R. Felix, Henry Schneiderman, R. Sandler, Rae Strozzo, Sela Davis, Simon Croft, Stacey Wexler, Truc Thanh Nguyen, Valerie Amedee, Woo, Miles Conrad, Uman and Woolf Israel.

Fresh Meat in the Gallery seeks to empower artists, expand the repertoire of original work authentically exploring transgender experience, bring visibility to trans communities, connect trans artists with diverse audiences, create dialogue and build community.

Fresh Meat in the Gallery accompanies Fresh Meat 2008, the 7th annual festival of transgender and queer performance, (June 19-22 at Project Artaud Theater in San Francisco). Last year, over 1,500 people attended Fresh Meat in the Gallery. Fresh Meat in the Gallery V is presented by Fresh Meat Productions, the Queer Cultural Center and the SF LGBT Community Center.
