French Wine and Cheese in French November 7, 2008

Looking to practice your French? Interested in wine and cheese pairings? GiraMondo Wine Adventures and the Alliance Française team up to present a night with two sessions highlighting French wines and cheeses. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy an evening of great wines and great food. The classes, completely taught in French, will cover:

• The different wine regions of France


• The French appellation system’s regulations, characteristics, and categories


• The wine making process and techniques of each region


• The cheese manufacturing and processing in France


• How to create the perfect pairing of French wines with French cheeses




Taste 6 wines and a selection of cheeses during each session. The first will be a general tasting and the second will highlight high end wines and cheeses from France’s best and most well known appellations. Take one or both! (40 seats available per session)




• First Session 6pm-7:15pm: ($45/person)


Wines: AOC Beaujolais Cru , AOC Bordeaux, AOC Quincy, AOC Muscat de Lunel, AOC Cotes du Rhône, AOC Bourgogne
• Cheeses: Brie, Chèvre, Camembert, Comte, Gruyere, Bleu

Second Session 7:30pm-9pm: ($60/person)

• Wines: AOC Volnay or Santenay, AOC Haut Medoc or Pomerol, AOC Graves blanc, AOC Sauternes or Beaume de Venise, AOC Crozes Hermitage , AOC Chateauneuf du Pape


• Cheeses: Epoisse, Roquefort, Vacherin, St Marcellin, Livaro, Brebis

Laurent Guinand, president of GiraMondo Wine Adventures, will present and bring his 15 years+ experience in the wine industry. Additionally, he will share his knowledge of cheeses and the cheese industry that he gained while doing research for his Ph.D. at the University Paris XIII.
