On the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the airborne disaster that claimed the lives of Lynyrd Skynyrd bandmembers Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines, Sweet and Nasty teams up with local burlesque superstar Clams Casino to present FREEBIRD: a tassel-twirling tribute to famous musicians whose careers were cut short by aerial mishaps. The night will feature performances by Anita Cookie, Bunny Love, Shelly the Singing Siren and many more, culminating at midnight with a group striptease salute to "Freebird" itself.

Clams Casino and Sweet and Nasty producer Nasty Canasta recently visited Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. "We were sitting there watching an incredibly touching documentary about the tragic deaths of all these amazing musicians," recalls Casino, "and we realised that all we could think about was tits." It was at that moment that FREEBIRD was born. John Denver, Otis Redding, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Glenn Miller: stars of the NYC burlesque scene will take it all off in honor of these and other tragically-dispatched musical greats. "Because really," asks Canasta, "what goes better with bump-and-grind than horrible flaming death?"

Since 2006, Sweet and Nasty has been adding its own unique mix of glam camp, historical fact, and blatant lies to the New York burlesque scene, and currently appears monthly at Public Assembly in Williamsburg; their October spectacular marks their first producing collaboration with Clams Casino, nationally-recognised bump-and-grind superstar, prolific local producer, and "Burlesque Queen" (The New York Times). FREEBIRD is the centerpiece of a jam-packed night of couple-friendly, risqué entertainment that will begin with go-go at 9:30 pm, and continue after the show with tunes from DJ Broadway Brassy.

If we leave here tomorrow, will you still remember us? Anita Cookie, Bunny Love, Creamy Stevens, Jezebel Express, Shelly The Singing Siren and your reanimated hosts Nasty Canasta and Clams Casino will be free (and clothing-free) as a bird, at FREEBIRD - at Public Assembly for one night only, Monday, October 19 at 10pm.
