Community Hospital Anderson to provide free skin cancer screenings

To recognize May as National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Community Hospital Anderson will provide free skin cancer screenings to reduce the most common form of cancer that affects one in five Americans.

Dr. Priya Young, dermatologist, will perform the screenings on Saturday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Madison County Community Cancer Center, located across the street from Community Hospital Anderson. Registration is required and limited to the first 50 people. Please call 800-777-7775 to register.

More than one million new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year. Although most skin cancers are curable if detected and treated early, one person dies every hour of melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer. Sun exposure is the most preventable risk for melanoma.
