To recognize May as National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Community Hospital Anderson will offer free skin cancer screenings to reduce the most common form of cancer that affects one in five Americans.

David Martin, M.D., dermatologist, will offer the free screenings on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Madison County Cancer Care Center. Registration is required. Please call 800-777-775 to register.

More than one million new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year. Although most skin cancers are curable if detected and treated early, one person dies every hour of melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer. Overexposure to the sun is the most preventable risk for melanoma.
