On Saturday, August 14, the City of Cupertino will begin its sixteenth season of hosting San Francisco Shakespeare Festival's Free Shakespeare in the Park with Two Gentlemen of Verona. The show continues for three weekends with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through August 29, 7:30 pm.

"Audiences typically fill the beautiful Memorial Park amphitheater and we're proud to be such a beloved tradition in the community," says Toby Leavitt, Executive Director of San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. "The shows in Cupertino have become kind of an annual reunion where we get to connect with friends old and new." Memorial Park is located on Stevens Creek Boulevard, between Mary Ave. and North Stelling across from De Anza College.

Two Gentlemen of Verona is a comedy about youthful love, directed by Resident Director Kenneth Kelleher who returns for his eighth season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. His past productions include The Comedy of Errors, Pericles, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Much Ado About Nothing, and Twelfth Night.

Proteus falls for best friend Valentine's glamorous new girlfriend, Silvia and dumps the faithful Julia. To win back her man, Julia dress up as a boy. With three outrageous outlaws, a misbehaving dog, and fun 60's tunes, Two Gentlemen of Verona is a zany comic caper that's sure to delight the whole family.
Fans of Free Shakespeare in the Park will see a number of familiar cast members. Brian Herndon (Launce) was seen as Dromio of Syracuse in last summer's comic hit The Comedy of Errors. Sofia Ahmad (Julia) may be remembered for her portrayal of Luciana in 2009's The Comedy of Errors. Audiences may also recognize Emily Jordan (Silvia), from 2007's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Titania) and 2008's Pericles (Thaisa and Diana). Gary S. Martinez (Duke) returns for his sixth consecutive season in the park.

Admission is free. For more information, call the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival at (415) 865-4434.
