Anderson, IN. - Do you like to fish? Have you wanted to learn more about fishing? Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th is the weekend for you. Across the state, fishing licenses are not required over the weekend, and Mounds State Park Interpretive Services is hosting several fishing activities to celebrate. Learn basic casting techniques, make your own fishing lure, practice fishing down by the river, and win fun fishing prizes.

Weekend activities include:

SATURDAY JUNE 7 FREE FISHING WEEKEND

11:00am- BASICS OF FISHING- Learn knot tying, casting, and fish identification. Visitor Center

1:30-2:30pm FREE RIVER FISHING- Join us riverside to practice or show-off your technique and learn new fishing tips. Bring your fishing gear and wading clothes; we’ll have some bait and a few extra poles on hand. Parents must accompany children. Meet at Canoe Launch

3:00-4:00pm - FUN FISHING GAMES- Fishermen and women, young and old, play fishing games, make easy fishing crafts, and join in the casting competition with prizes. Visitor Center

8:00pm-CAMPFIRE FUN! – Join us for some fun fishing stories around the campfire, especially about the “big one that got away!” Meet at Campsite #3.



SUNDAY JUNE 8 FREE FISHING WEEKEND

2:30pm- CREEK STOMP – Come prepared to get your feet wet as we explore the small creeks that feed White River . We’ll investigate the aquatic insects that tell us if the river is getting cleaner. Wear old tennis shoes or river sandals. Visitor Center Porch



These programs are free and open to the public. Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. The gate fee to enter the park is $5/car (in-state) or $7/car (out-of-state).
