Frank Williams came out to hear our feature Pablo Rosales on May 25, 2007. He also participated in the open mic that night with his poem “My Body Too Heavy to Hang from a Tree.” It was apparent that he is no stranger to the stage. He will return on Friday, August 10, as our featured poet during the open mic. Here’s what he has to say about himself:

Frank Thomas Williams (da Chairman) was born and raised in Chicago Illinois, South Side moved to California’s Bay Area twenty-seven years ago.

da Chairman displays leadership through Spoken Words, and through his articles that can be viewed on www.gibbsmagazine.com under the “The Angry Man.” I am used as a tool to advocate for those who voices are not heard.

“I believe that my life is being blessed to overcome obstacles so that I can be a blessing for others. If I reach just one person and can cause a change for the better, then I am doing God’s will!”

Belief in Social Consciousness, writing with passion emphasizing on the social ills that runs rampant throughout our society as viewed in “Sticking Me.” My writings come from inspirational forces from my ancestors found in the Book of Ancestors such as, “My Body Too Heavy To Hang From A Tree.”

Knowledge in Poetic Views by Frank Thomas Williams can be purchased for $12.00 online at www.gibbsmagazine.com, www.amazon.com, Oakland Jack London Square Barnes and Nobles, and in San Francisco at Modern Times Book Store.
