Frank Critelli and Shandy Lawson

Double Billing tonight!

Frank Critelli writes songs. He dabbles in haiku and other short poetry. Sometimes he writes other stuff too. Like postcards. ... Frank Critelli is one of the most prolific songwriters you've probably never heard of. He's
performed on streets corners and subways stations,
clubs and coffeehouses, theaters and festivals, and
most recently, in his kitchen. Simultaneously
crashing and calm, his songs veer from scruffy folk to
pristine pop. His newest release, Waltzing Through
Quicksand, is out now on independent CT record label,
ThinManMusic.

Shandy Lawson opens the show with
folk-noir ballads and acoustic brawls of the highest
caliber.

A bit about their CDs:

FRANK CRITELLI -
Waltzing Through Quicksand is the new CD, out on the ThinManMusic Label. "Clever lyrics, pithy pop figments on par with Michael Penn," says Chris Arnott of The New Haven Advocate. "This disc is really choice. It shines through all twelve tracks." (PLAY Magazine). Pat Ferrucci of the New Haven Register says, "Seriously, song after song Waltzing delivers ... This is one to check out."

SHANDY LAWSON -
Shandy's 'folk-noir' style is complete with the usual lyrical edge ("A humorous sense of wicked," says one) as well as inspired and memorable melodies, quick and dirty mandolin solos and production that is proudly non-Nashville. "I didn't want 'Broken Hearts' to sound like a slick over-produced twenty-dollar CD. I wanted folks to listen to it and feel like I'm sitting there playing in front of them." These tracks have a certain sense of intimacy about them.
