Found Horizon is an evening celebrating the Los Angeles compositions of Igor Stravinsky. Held on November 14th at Zipper Hall, the concert is presented in collaboration with The Getty Center's Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980 and will feature Colburn Conservatory musicians performing chamber music and chamber orchestra works composed by Stravinsky while he lived and worked in Los Angeles.
Patrick Scott, curator of the Found Horizon and artistic director of Jacaranda – Music at the Edge, one of the nation’s premier chamber music organizations based in Santa Monica, CA, hand selected the repertoire for the program. Scott will open the evening with a lecture exploring Stravinsky’s compositions from this period, which were born from a turning point in the composer’s artistic life, fostered in part by the thriving Los Angeles artistic community at the time.
Found Horizon is part of Pacific Standard Time. This unprecedented collaboration, initiated by the Getty, brings together more than sixty cultural institutions from across Southern California for six months beginning October 2011 to tell the story of the birth of the L.A. art scene.
