Public Forum on the Future of Post-Secondary Education

October 5th, 12:00 ? 2:00 PM
Cassio A+B,MacEwan Student Centre
University of Calgary

The provincial government is currently conducting a comprehensive review of the advanced education system in Alberta. Organizers of this forum are concerned that the government review process has left the public out of the invitation only stakeholder meetings that are currently taking place around the province.

The forum will provide an opportunity to the public and community and organizational representatives to present their input into the review of the system. Post-secondary education affects everyone in Alberta, and so everyone should have the opportunity to share their vision of how we can improve the system.

The political parties have all been invited to attend the event and to provide comments on what they have heard from the public. The Advanced Education critiques for the Alberta Liberals, Dave Taylor and the New Democrats, Raj Pannu, have confirmed they will be attending the forum. While Advanced Education Minister Dave Hancock has encouraged all MLAs to put on public forums on this topic, the Conservative Party has yet to confirm if they will be sending an MLA.

If you are not able to attend the forum but would still like to provide your input in to the review, please go to Public Interest Alberta?s website and fill out the ?Post Secondary Education Report Card? and send an e-mail to the Minister of Advanced Education and your MLA. www.pialberta.org
