The St. Agatha Peace and Social Justice Team will host a moderated panel discussion concerning the relationship between religious faith and the media on Wednesday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. The panel and forum are open to the public -- all are invited.

The panel will feature KPTV anchor and veteran reporter Jim Hyde; Pulitzer-prize-winning staff writer for The Oregonian, Julie Sullivan; and reporter Nancy Haught, who covers religion for The Oregonian and has also served as a reporter for The Catholic Sentinel.

Expected topics:

-- What issues get covered in the newsroom (and what don't) and why?
-- Do newsrooms and churches understand one another? Should they?
-- What personal or professional challenges come with reporting on hot-button topics within the Catholic Church?

The event will start with brief individual presentations by each guest, followed by a moderated discussion and an open dialogue.

The discussion will be held at the St. Agatha Parish Hall, located at 7983 SE 15th in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland. Hope to see you here. Please feel free to spread the word.
