From March 4th through the 31st the Gene Siskel Film Center is hosting an amazing array of European films – 64 films representing 24 nations- for your viewing pleasure. My Drink On invites you to watch and sip at the closing night of the EU film Festival on March 31st. The night includes a viewing of the UK’s Michael Winterbottom’s “The Trip” (2010, approximately 107 minutes).

“The Trip” focuses on two friends – Coogan, the arrogant narcissist and Brydon, a sly, salt-of-the-earth type. The two set off on a culinary tour of Lake District and take the viewer on a beautifully scenic and witty romp. The director, Winterbottom, is known for his unpredictable style as evident in his previous films, “Tristram Shandy” and “The Killer Inside of Me”. “The Trip” promises to be a much lighter, mellower movie with elements of the hit “Sideways”. And in the spirit of the finer things in life, the event will be sponsored by the number one winery in Italy, Zonin Wines. The screening is followed by a reception with food and drink sponsored by Zonin Wines and Whole Foods Market.
