Footsteps for Childhood, Sponsored summer walking event

This year The Children's Society launched its new summer waking event, Footsteps for Childhood, and the event series finale will be held in London on Saturday 15 September, alongside The Mayor’s Thames Festival.

Starting outside Tate Modern, there are three walking routes participants can choose to take around London, a toddler-friendly walk of around 2 miles, a longer walk of around 5 miles and a route of around 10 miles. Each route has been carefully planned to tell you about the history and heritage of the city, incorporating some of the capital’s greatest treasures.

TV star Denise Welch, who is supporting the Footsteps for Childhood events, says “I love to walk, because it's easy and something the whole family can do together. I will be getting all my family to the Footsteps for Childhood walks and will be making a whole day of it."

Footsteps for Childhood is set to become one of the largest walking events of its kind in the country. It’s not a race, and there’s even a choice of walking routes so participants can take things at their own pace. We’ve also planned a packed programme of free entertainment to enjoy throughout the day, including dancing, live music, arts and crafts, as well as fun activities for children. Every participant will receive a medal and a goody bag.
