This year's WHY forum ? co-sponsored by WHY and the Department of Media Studies and Film at the New School University ? begins with a media panel discussion, focusing on the media?s role in increasing public awareness of hunger, nutrition and poverty issues. Following is a panel discussion exploring current food system problems, including the exploitation of farmworkers, the loss of family farms, the growing obesity epidemic, and the institutionalized emergency feeding system. The forum concludes with a panel discussion about the grassroots movements in fighting for justice and how individuals can become effective advocates for change.
