Following on from the sold out BlackSpot laneway party featuring Glasgow’s Hudson Mohawke, {move} presents the return of Flying Lotus!

So what does Flying Lotus sound like?

In the words of the man himself, “Folks say… ‘the Tarantino of beats’, ‘donkeys drinking’, ‘books falling down stairs on a very windy day’, ‘the bleep bleep shit’, ‘sweaty elephants’, ‘God smashing on stuff with his feet’ and ‘the future’.”

They’re probably all right. The great-nephew of legendary Alice Coltrane (wife of John), 25 year-old producer Steven Ellison has music pulsing through his veins.

The name Flying Lotus is on the lips of many as the leader of a new generation of artists emerging from California. A movement that has captured attention worldwide fuelled by hip-hop and cutting-edge dance music, with members including Sa-Ra, Hyperdub’s Samiyam and The Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus is redefining the sound of LA.

Flying Lotus’ sophomore album and debut LP on Warp, Los Angeles, was released earlier this year to overwhelming reviews, receiving massive airplay around the world.

Name-checked by Portishead, Massive Attack and the RZA amongst others, don’t sleep on Flying Lotus’ live late night assault on Perth Saturday 10 January!

Local supports are Underground Sound Solution System, Taku and Ben M.
