Joe Chvala and the Flying Foot Forum, a Twin Cities-based and nationally prominent percussive dance company, bring the mesmerizing Flying Feet – The Percussion Project back to the Southern Theater after a sold out run in the 06/07 season. Flying Feet is a unique collection of work by four collaborators: Joe Chvala, Mary Ellen Childs, Karla Grotting and Peter O'Gorman. Rhythmically complex and compelling, the program showcases choreography by Chvala, Grotting and O’Gorman, in sequence with drumming and percussive music of all kinds. The instruments employed are sometimes elaborate, sometimes elegant, sometimes held, sometimes stationary and sometimes as simple as the performers' own bodies. The interplay of light, instrument, movement and sound creates a dynamic evening that honors the broad, grand genre of percussion.
