"Flyer" The Band April 1, 2011

For the past 32 years, Long Beach California has been rock’n to the sound of “FLYER”. This extraordinary band has commanded an army of loyal fans over the years that have consistently flocked to Long Beach Pier to hear their favorite tunes and laugh at the spontaneous improvisation. In February of 2011 “FLYER” moved to a new Long Beach stage bringing their unique brand of fun and entertainment to the Longboard room at Don the Beach Combers.

Since the band first took the stage back in June of 1979 they have outlasted every show on Broadway playing over 300,000 songs to admirers ranging anywhere from 21 to 70 years old. In some cases, they are playing to the 3rd generation of customers.

What makes “FLYER” tick? Todd Hartmann. As the heart beat of the trio, Todd brings his skilled touch to the keyboards, with his spot on comedic timing and a voice with some serious range. Nancy Hartmann plays acoustic guitar and lead vocals that will give you goose bumps. Rounding out the bill is lead and bass guitarist Jim Forney. The group’s exceptional cohesion is apparent from the first song to the last. Their ability to synchronize their talent perfectly, consistently packing each show with the FUN, coupled with a wide variety of music spanning from the 50's, 60’s, 70's, 80's through today is the secrete to their longevity.

As one customer said on their 15th anniversary, “I’ve had 3 wives, 4 children, 4 homes, 3 cars, 2 dogs… and the only thing still consistent in my life is “FLYER.”
