Fly the Flag Day June 21, 2010

A Fly the Flag ceremony took place at the flag poles outside the offices of Melton Borough Council, Phoenix House, Melton Mowbray earlier today. The Mayor of the Borough of Melton, Councillor Margaret Moore invited representatives of the Armed Forces, including the Defence Annimal Centre in Melton, who provided Standards and Escorts, (2 dogs from the centre also attended). HMS Quorn, the Royal Naval Minesweeper which enjoys the Freedom of the Borough. A Deputy Lord Lieutenant, President of the local Royal British Legion and all local Armed Forces Organisations, other dignitories and the public. A short service was conducted by the local rector and the flag was raised by the Chairman of the RBL. Afterwards a reception was held in Phoenix House.
