Continental borders have never defined classical music, nor the imaginations of classical composers. Unbound by the political enclosures of man, every symphonist has plucked and extracted from the global culture of music to appease the fervor for their craft. This concert, the FSO brings a fable to life with the German composer Wagner's Flying Dutchman Overture. Distinct selections drawn from opera and dance from an American and a French composer fill the evening with diverse splendor, including Barber's confident Violin Concerto and Ravels' evocations of Spain.
