Flickr Nottingham (Motorsport) group meet at Donington 'Truck Attack!'

Donington Park Leisure and the British Automobile Racing Club announce that TruckAttack – Truck Racing Championship will be held as a one day event on 27th July 2008.

Featuring Delphi British Truck Racing Championship races plus a full day of support races including Pick-Up Racing Championship, Ferrari Challenge, Legends Championship and the BMW Challenge.

‘Motor sport fans are in for a real treat as this is a rare opportunity to see some of the smallest four wheel racers and the heaviest all on one day’ says Robert Fearnall of Donington Park Leisure. ‘We’re aiming to make this a great value for money day out for spectators whether sport fans or families wanting a different experience. We’ve got the BigFoot Monster Truck Display, children’s activities and lots of impressive custom trucks.’

The sport of truck racing started at Donington Park in 1984 and has developed into an exciting heavy-weight motor sport with five-and-a-half ton trucks racing at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

The FIA European Truck Racers will not be part of the programme due to being unable to obtain the financial commitment from interested parties originally wishing to help see a round of the European series return to the UK.

The Delphi British Truck Racing Championship is the most successful national championship in Europe with more than twenty 1000 horsepower race trucks regularly competing.

The sport has enjoyed a recent revival, attracting large crowds to Brands Hatch and Thruxton in the south of England. Enthusiasts in the Midlands and North will welcome truck racing’s return to Donington after a 4 year break.
