Flamenco María Vázquez to perform at the Mercury Café in:

“Noches de Pasión”

DENVER – May 29, 30 2009-- Maria Vázquez and her flamenco troupe “Grupo Maria Vazquez” will perform an evening of Flamenco dance and music, bringing the passion and soul of southern Spain to Denver. The performance will take place on May 29 and May 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Mercury Café, 2199 California St Denver, CO

Among the featured performers at this performance are Vicente Griego "El Cartucho", a Flamenco singer, educational artist and traveler from Embudo, New Mexico has devoted his life to the study of cante flamenco, the art of flamenco singing. “Vicente Griego ‘El Cartucho’ is striking for his deep sonorous wails that seem to come from a cavern, someplace deep within his soul…” -Anna Poplawska, Chicago Artist’s News

The guitarist Ricardo Anglada, a native of Northern New Mexico, began playing guitar at age 12.Ricardo has become one of the most sought after guitarists in the southwest. With his passion for flamenco song, dance, and music, Ricardo is a powerful performer and promises to be one of America's top flamenco artists yet to come.

Maria Vázquez is a Denver-based dancer from Seville, Spain. She is licensed in Spanish Dance from the Conservatory of Dance in Seville. Maria has extended the community’s interest in flamenco through her performances and classes in Denver and surrounding areas since her relocation in 2002.
