Clark County has joined the City of Portland in offering a Fix-It Fair to local residents. The Clark County Fix-It Fair will be held on Saturday October 27, 2007 in Gaiser Hall on the Clark College Campus from 9 am – 2 pm.

The Fix-It Fair will include separate tracks of workshops that will provide information about energy savings, principles of a healthy home, composting and gardening, well and septic system; household hazardous material management, recycling, identify theft protection, emergency preparedness and much more. For more one-on-one interaction, booths representing a variety of agencies and organizations will be onsite to provide specific information and respond to individual questions.

Lunch will be provided by Northwest Natural Gas at no cost to the first 350 participants.

Residents will also be able to shred personal papers and documents at the Fix-It Fair courtesy of Shred-It Portland, limit 1-2 bag of papers please. There is no cost to residents for this service, however, donations for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America will be accepted.

The Community Cycling Center, a non-profit organization, will be on hand to collect donated bicycles, tricycles, and unicycles that their professional mechanics can refurbish. Brands such as Trek, Bianchi, Diamond Back, and Fuji, make great, reliable rides for their Create a Commuter program and Bike Safety Clubs. Please only bring gently used bicycles, tricycles, unicycles to this collection event. Your donation will be tax-deductible. In addition to the collection event, staff from the Community Cycling Center will be on hand to answer general questions about bike repair and provide bike commuting tips.
