Matthew Stuart grew up in Santee, CA. He writes stories and makes drawings that he wants you to see. He says, "People should visit my website and check out my work: www.matthewdstuart.com." What he doesn't want you to see are his old, and long, love letters: "I spent the years 1997 to 2001 composing an epic love letter to Kim Gordon," he says, "a letter which my wife would like me to read for Five Things and which I will not read for Five Things because it's embarrassing and also none of your business." His short fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Boston Review, Makeout Creek, Bat City Review, and elsewhere.

Mike Whalen was a member of the 2005 Austin Poetry Slam Team and coached the 2006 Austin Neo-Soul Poetry Slam Team and the 2007 & 2008 Austin Under-21 Poetry Slam Teams. Two different women whom he loves are his mother and his girlfriend.

David Jewell once opened for Laurie Anderson, at the Paramount Theater. And Lydia Lunch at the Cactus Cafe. His first book, Lizards Again, of manic d press, was published by a woman. It goes on and on. Actually, a woman gave birth to him. And he lives on Mother Earth. "And," well he says, "what else, women are fab."

Tony Jackson is a five-time Austin Poetry Slam Team member and is a member of the current team (Ranked third in the world.) He is a former Austin Individual Poetry Slam Champion and a two-time Haiku Champion. His work has been recognized by the director of the National Endowment for the Arts for its exceptional quality. He has performed on stages from Honolulu to Barcelona. On top of this, he loves women and is, he admits it: "a card-carrying momma's boy!"
