100 Old Slip
New York, New York 10005

Just east of today's City Hall and Municipal Building, there once was a foul-smelling, disease-ridden district known as Five Points. Brought to life in the movie 'Gangs of New York,' it was a place of violence, corruption and poverty. But was it a totally nefarious place? What was the reality of this notorious district? Join Manhattan historian Joyce Gold as she leads you on a walking tour through one of the most infamous immigrant neighborhoods of America-the 19th-century Five Points. The tour meets at Bayard St. (1 block south of Canal St.) and the Bowery, at the northwest corner.
