First Street Music Series: RHS Jazz Ensemble April 23, 2010

The Jazz Ensemble is among the highest-level performing groups at Roosevelt High School.

The RHS Jazz Band performs music in a variety of styles (Jazz, Blues, Bebop, Funk, Latin, and Salsa), under the direction of Mr. Mark D'Angelo.

Special guests include: Mike Karoub and Rob Bourassa.

‘Cellist Mike Karoub has performed at the Smithsonian Institute, The Kennedy Center and on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion, with James Dapogny’s Chicago Jazz band. Other national tour and recording credits include the Butch Thompson Trio, the Chenille sisters and Banu Gibson's New Orleans Hot Jazz. As a cellist, Mike has performed with several orchestras and in the Royal Garden Trio, and is the music director at St. Stephens.

Musician Rob Bourassa is an exceptionally talented guitarist, banjo and ukulele player. He performs, instructs, composes and arranges music professionally. Bourassa is also the owner of Guitar Lessons Online, a company that teaches guitar lessons on the internet. Bourassa instructs students from all over the globe. Bourassa plays in a limitless variety of musical genres including bluegrass, rock, blues and swing and is especially gifted in his Jazz improvisation.
